Teachers' powers to control violence and disruption have changed considerably in recent years. When the legislation currently working its way through Parliament comes into force, they are set to change again.

By completing our short survey, you will significantly help our campaign to ensure than any legislative changes protect your health and wellbeing as much as possible. It shouldn’t take more than five minutes and can be found here.

Attend the 14-19 conference at discount rate:
Teacher Support Network has negotiated a 10 per cent discount offer for the 14-19 Provision conference, which is set to attract leading education organisations and practitioners from across the country. Continue Reading here.

Winner of our prize draw is announced:
Teacher Support Network would like to congratulate the winner of our free prize draw, Katie Whileman, from St Theresa’s Catholic Primary School in Sheffield. The school will receive £250 from us to help improve and revive their staffroom and help teachers relax and recharge throughout the day.

Positive teacher wellbeing is a crucial ingredient in a happy, effective school. As many of you will know, the staffroom itself plays an important role in teachers’ lives: ensuring they have can take a break from the classroom with colleagues, read the paper or complete some work.

Look out for updates in the coming months on the alterations that Katie and her colleagues make to their staffroom and how the changes are making a difference to the staff there. By promoting the fact that small improvements can make a huge difference, we hope that more schools will also make teacher wellbeing a greater priority.

Worried about workload? Drowning in debt?
Teachers TV would like to speak to female teachers aged 30 – 50, living in or around Greater London, for two programmes they are filming over the summer.

Making Ends Meet will give teachers who are experiencing financial difficulties owing to the recession the chance to speak to a panel of experts for advice, including a Teacher Support Network advisor. Perhaps you’ve suddenly found yourself as the main breadwinner in the household? Perhaps you’re struggling to support your children and parents? If you’re willing to share your experience, get in touch.

In Coping With Workload, an expert panel will give advice to teachers struggling to keep up with the demands of the job.

Perhaps you’ve taken on additional responsibility which is keeping you at school late each night? Perhaps you don’t feel able to spend time with friends and family because work is tiring you out? The expert panel can help.

If you are willing to get involved in either programme, please contact Joe Williams, our Press and External Relations Manager, on joe.williams@teachersupport.info or 020 7697 2762. Joe will talk your situation through with you before getting your consent to put you in touch with the production team.

Don’t forget, if you are worried about workload, money or other issues, we’re here for you 24 hours a day on our Support Lines: 08000 562 561 (England) or 0800 5642270 (Scotland).
